The This Morning Star, 61, made the revelation during a candid interview on RT One’s The Meaning of Life on Sunday.

Eamon began: “It’s coming from a guy who would be flying back from London for his kids’ school play days, the last flight out of Belfast at 10 p.m., when he’d get them to bed at night.” 8 o’clock, you know, who was there for them at all times on their every need.

“And this is this person who went to an airport lounge one Sunday morning, very early in Belfast, and there was another person in that lounge and that was Anne Robinson.

“I walked up to him and I just said, very coldly and heartily, ‘If you were a bloke, I would have beheaded your f**king. I want you to know that.'”

The Morning TV host claims that 76-year-old Anne responded to his anger by saying she was “only joking”, but later apologized for their comments while sitting on a plane together.

Eamon continued: “Later Anne Robinson asked me to sit next to her on the plane and I thought twice about it and I sat down beside her, and we had a very enlightening conversation, a very sensible conversation , and he apologized.

“What can you do when someone apologizes? You are left with a choice whether to forgive or not, and I decided to forgive him.”

Eamon has three children with ex-wife Gabrielle; Declan, Rebecca and Niall, who are still based in Belfast.

Following his divorce, the TV star married Ruth Langsford in 2010 and they have a 19-year-old son, Jack.

In the same RT interview, Eamonn burst into tears 31 years after his late father – his sudden death.

Leonard, the father of The This Morning host, suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 65 while driving through the Northern Ireland countryside and recounted the harrowing experience in his 2006 autobiography, This Is My Life.

The presenter was in London over Easter in 1991 when her parents and younger brother Conor spent the weekend in their caravan in the seaside town of Ballycastle, Antrim.

After the weekend, Eamon called his parents’ house on 3 April hoping to hear everything about their visit, but there was no answer, nor did the calls made 30 minutes later.

At 7 that night, Eamon received a call from his brother Colm, who told him of his father’s death after he had become ill from his travels.

The broadcaster wrote in his book that his father had suddenly become unwell and hit the road and could not move from the driver’s seat – but on a country road and without a phone, Eamonn’s mother Josie could not do much. She was

Coincidentally a family friend, John Linehan, was visiting the area and came to his aid while he waited for the ambulance to arrive.

Upon hearing the devastating news, Eamon arrived at Heathrow Airport and managed to board the final flight to Belfast so that he could be with his family.

The TV star said his mother Josie had never recovered from Leonard’s death, while Eamon explained that he never recovered from the grief of seeing his father’s body in the morgue.
