Children in Need viewers were in frenzy as EastEnders’ Janine Butcher made fun of Corey’s killing husbands on a date with Steve McDonald.
EastEnders villain, 40, teamed up with Coronation Street Lothario, 47, to create an epic First Dates sketch on BBC1’s Children in Need Tonight.
Fans didn’t believe it when Janine, played by actress Charlie Brooks, ended up on a date with Steve, played by Simon Gregson, after the host put them together by accident.
The soap giants took the opportunity to release their famous stories because they knew each other.
The highlight was when Janine joked about killing her husbands – reminding fans that when she pushed her husband Barry off a cliff to his death.
Simon asked Janine if she was married, to which she replied: “Four times. I’ve only killed two of them,” before bursting into laughter.
Fans of the soap took to Twitter to praise the sketch, where Steve also said he had 7 wives, causing Janine to almost choke on her vodka tonic.
One wrote: “Simon Gregson and Charlie Brooks are fantastic at this.”
Another said: “Janine with a steak knife! Now I’m worried.”
Others worried about what Steve’s wife Tracy would do if she knew he was on a date with Janine.
A third shouted: “OMG Steve McDonald somehow accidentally went on a date with the real Janine Butcher. Tracy is totally gonna kill him.”
The show, which raised millions of pounds for charity, saw Ed Sheeran perform his new single to open the show, and the cast of the 9-5 musical lighted the stage with a number one.
Janine returned to EastEnders earlier this year after leaving in 2014.
She first marries husband Barry for her money, then pushes her off a cliff in Scotland.
This was followed by a dramatic marriage to a wealthy elderly businessman named David, who died of a heart attack at the ceremony.
Janine is also married to Ryan Malloy, whom she also tried to kill.
She failed but attempted to frame arch-rival Stacy Slater for the offense.
Janine killed her fourth husband, Michael Moon, but was found not guilty in court – leading to her being abandoned by the locals.
