‘Zendaya is here from Euphoria, hello Zendaya,’ he began.

Zendaya just turned 26 last week, happy birthday, happy birthday 26 is a weird age in Hollywood, you’re young enough to play a high school student but too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio ,’ Thompson said.

The joke got a lot of laughs from the crowd, as Zendaya was seen covering her face after the joke.

The prank was the most interesting of his show to date, not long after the Saturday Night Live star defied any piece of controversy with an opening number that saw him dancing to several hit theme songs.

Thompson and a troupe of dancers cut a cosmic rug to the iconic theme songs for Friends, Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, and The Brady Bunch.

Thompson’s opening remarks began with him – wearing a top hat and an all-black tuxedo – proclaiming himself as the ‘mayor of television’.

He joked that not only did everyone in that room make a living, describing the TV as the greatest invention in history, but also how his agents made a living.

‘I mean, if it wasn’t for TV, what would we do in our spare time? Reading books? No one has read a book in this room in the last 50 years,’ he joked.

‘Watch TikTok? You mean small vertical television? or have sex? gross! From Netflix and chill to Paramount Plus and dinner alone, we have TV,’ Thompson joked.

He continued, ‘Does Dhvani fill us with more joy and anticipation than the familiar debut of a TV theme, we’ve always been singing for them but we’ve never been able to dance for them. So far,’ before moving on to the dancing routine.

Screens then started showing the iconic opening for The Brady Bunch, although Kenan was seen joking in the middle of the grid, ‘Kwanzaa is going to be a little different this year.’
