Ex-marine singlehandedly tackles armed robber in Arizona

A former Marine single-handedly threw an armed man to the ground during a robbery attempt in Arizona.

The CCTV footage showed the man entering the petrol station dressed completely in black and carrying weapons.

A second person believed to be a partner whose face was also covered is shown behind.


Once the two men are through both doors, the unarmed customer, later identified as a US Marine Corps veteran, is seen lunging rapidly at the gun-wielding robber.

The pair break out of surveillance camera shots, but apparent ally Chevron is seen scrambling for the garage door.

Police said that no one was reported to be injured during the October 20 incident.

A suspect was arrested and taken to the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center in connection with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Officials said they are on the lookout for two other suspects who fled the spot.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) said in a statement Wednesday: “At 4.30 a.m. YCSO representatives responded to an armed robbery call at Chevron, located in the 10700 block of S. Fortuna Road.

“Business is closed. Investigators are on the spot. Please avoid the area. More information will be released later.”

In an update later on Wednesday, the department said: “Business has reopened and the area has been sanitised. The investigation continues. No victims were injured.”
