The loved ones of 19-year-old Mia Marcano said their final goodbyes on Thursday.


Marcano was laid to rest in a custom blue coffin, draped with an image of her angular face and topped with a queen’s crown.

The funeral was held at Cooper City Church of God. Marcano was a resident of Broward County. Family and friends gathered to remember the teenager, who was a student at Valencia College in Orlando.

“Putting things like this together still doesn’t feel real,” said a cousin of Mia.

Another cousin of Mia said, “She was very smart and very beautiful. Her smile could brighten anyone’s day and your energy was bright.” “I wish the world knew him without this happening.”

“We spoke via text for the last time,” said Mia’s uncle, Marvin. “I said, ‘You know your uncle loves you?’ He replied, Yes Uncle Marv. You know I love you too!’ I wish I had called to hear you say this, but I thought we had forever.”

Yet through tears, songs, celebrations and tributes to Mia’s life arose.

Several artists took to the stage to belt out songs in his honor. Young artist Mia was also pursuing sports medicine education at Valencia College. Her family remembered her infectious personality.

“Every time she walked into the room she had a magical way of bringing joy,” said Mia’s cousin, Callie Sue. “No one will ever forget his smile.”

No one will forget his name.

“Mmm, baby, princess. Uncle love you. I know you hear me and one day I’ll hear you say it. Until then, I love you, baby,” said her Uncle Marvin.

Orange County representatives say Mia was killed by a maintenance worker at her apartment complex in Orlando. He was later found dead of an apparent suicide.

Last week, Mia’s family released a recording of her confrontation with Armando Caballero, the prime suspect in her murder. Caballero denied he was a stalker after a relative of Mia said there was evidence of her obsession with the 19-year-old.

Mia’s bound body was found in an abandoned apartment complex on the other side of the city.

Mia’s parents have also formally started the Mia Marcano Memorial Foundation to help families of missing persons.

The family has started the Mia Marcano Foundation in her honor. They hope to provide support, education and resources to assist the families of missing persons. He has asked supporters to donate for the cause. You do this on Foundation’s Website.
