Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon has released its first entertaining trailer.
The series – set 200 years before the events of the hit HBO show – stars Matt Smith, Paddy Considine and Emma D’Arcy.
Filming on House of the Dragon began earlier this year and now fans are given their first glimpse of what’s in store.
The first-look trailer hints that there will be a lot of drama, with epic sword-fighting sequences teased into multiple shots.
The trailer also features a takedown contest, with former The Crown and Doctor Who star Matt providing voiceover narration.
As dark and moody scenes float across the screen, he exclaims: “Lord… King… Fire… and Blood.
“Dreams didn’t make us kings… Dragons did.”
As they say the last line, the iconic Iron Throne is seen before the House of the Dragon symbol explodes across the screen in a ball of fire.
Matt, 38, plays Prince Damon Targaryen, the younger brother of King Viserys Targaryen, meanwhile Emma, 28, will play Princess Renera Targaryen, the king’s daughter.
The rest of the cast includes Otto Hightower, The Hand of the King, and Rhys Ifan as King Viserys’ close counselor, as well as Olivia Cooke who plays Otto’s daughter, Alicent Hightower.
Steve Toussaint will play the legendary seafarer The Sea Snake, Lord Corliss Valerian, while Paddy Considine is King Viserys, Eve as Best Princess Rainys Valerian and Sonoya Mizuno Damon’s ally of Crazy Rich Asians.
The first details revealed about the plot of House of the Dragon will reveal how the House of the Dragon begins to break down and the Dance of the Dragons civil war begins.
How King’s Landing was formed is also set to be revealed, as are the origin stories of some of the other iconic Houses seen in the original HBO series.
