Tragic: Famed theme tune musician Alan Hawkshaw has died at the age of 84 after being hospitalized with pneumonia this week after suffering a fourth stroke in July.

Allen’s talent agency DNA Music Ltd shared the news of his death and said in a statement: ‘Alan Hawkshaw, a Leeds-born musician, composer and artist, has left us sadly.

‘He was behind some incredible theme tunes like Grange Hill, Channel 4 News, Countdown, Dave Allen at Large, Arthur C Clarke’s Mysterious World.

‘One of the most sampled musicians in the world, hip hop producers have specifically plundered Allen’s catalog of works, the biggest of which, Jay-Z with Prey, featured on the American Gangster album.

“Allen often joked, “I’m one of the oldest rap artists in the world!”

’ He also famously said of Streisand, “Barbara held this song of mine for eight years until I sent her a note through one of my attorneys asking to please let one of us die.” Record it first.” (Barbara recorded Allen’s song Why Let It Go.)’

Allen suffered a fourth stroke in July and since August Radlett was hospitalized this week with pneumonia until he recovered at home.

Allen’s wife Christiane told her label that the musician had tragically passed away and said in her own statement that she was ‘heartbroken’ to say goodbye to the ‘love of her life’.

she wrote: ‘It was heartbreaking to say goodbye to Alan, my husband of 53 years and the love of my life.

‘We spent the last few hours looking at each other lovingly, holding hands, no words needed.

‘I told him that he and I were forever, and even though he had been unable to speak for the past two months, he did manage to say something ‘forever’ and I knew he was at peace. When you love someone so much, you should let him go.’
