Halina Hutchins’ husband is speaking out after the tragic death of the cinematographer, who was killed by a fatal prop gun shooting on Thursday.

Matthew Hutchins told Granthshala News on Friday, a day after his wife’s death that he had made contact with alec baldwin, which officials say was the one who discharged the prop gun on set in Santa Fe, New Mexico.


“I’ve spoken with Alec Baldwin and he’s been very supportive,” Matthew Hutchins told Granthshala News.

Matthew’s mother and Helena’s mother-in-law were also reached by Granthshala News early Friday. Refusing to speak deeply enough to allow her son to release her statement, she tells Granthshala News: “It’s a terrible time for us. She was my daughter-in-law and she was a wonderful, wonderful person.”

Alec Baldwin breaks silence after crew member killed in devastating gun accident on film set

Baldwin, 63, break your silence In a post shared on his Instagram account on Friday. He expressed condolences to Hutchins’ family and called the shooting an accident.

“There are no words to express my shock and sadness about the tragic accident that took the lives of a wife, mother and our highly admired colleague, Helena Hutchins,” he said on Twitter on Friday morning.

“I am fully cooperating with the police investigation to find out how this tragedy happened and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart goes out to her husband, Broken for his son and all those who knew and loved Halina,” the actor concluded.

Production on “Rust” is halted indefinitely after Baldwin discharged a prop gun during production Thursday at Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe, new Mexico, resulting in the death of 42-year-old Hutchins and 48-year-old director Joel Souza injured.

Hutchins was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Souza who was injured in the collarbone area was taken by ambulance to a medical centre. He was discharged Friday morning from the hospital

“The entire cast and crew are completely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Helena’s family and loved ones,” a spokesperson for Rust Movies Productions LLC said in a statement obtained by Deadline.

“We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period and are cooperating fully with Santa Fe Police Department investigation,” the statement continued. “We will provide counseling services to everyone involved with the film as we work to process this horrific incident.”

According to the Internet Movie Database website, the film is about a 13-year-old boy who is left to care for himself and his younger brother after the death of his parents in Kansas in the 1880s. The teen runs away with his long-estranged grandfather (played by Baldwin) after the boy is sentenced to death for the accidental murder of a local rancher.

As indicated in the statement, the authorities have started an investigation into the incident.

“Mr. Baldwin was questioned by investigators and released,” said a representative for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, per the outlet. “No arrests or charges have been made.”

He added: “This investigation is open and active. No charges have been filed in relation to this incident. Interviews of witnesses by the detectives are on.”

A news release from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said the deputies were dispatched to the set at around 1:50 p.m. local time, and the call indicated that one person had been shot.
