After 18 months in the dark due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Great White Way is coming back to life.


“I’m thrilled that Broadway is opening, New York is opening back,” said Jenny Milanosk, who came from Boston to return to Broadway.

The curtain will rise once again for Broadway’s long-running powerhouse show The Lion Kinghandjob Satanhandjob Chicago, And hamilton.

Theaters will be at full capacity. However, proof of vaccination and masks are required.

“Today is an unprecedented day for Broadway because when Broadway returns, New York returns,” said Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin. “And 97,000 of Broadway’s employees are back to work.”

The TKTS discount ticket booth in Times Square also reopened on Tuesday.

Netherlander Organization CEO Jimmy Nederlander told Good Day New York that despite ongoing concerns about the Delta version, he remains optimistic about the industry’s return.

“Broadway is not only back, but we are charting well before COVID,” he said. “Hamilton has an advance of $40 million now, which is huge.”

The numbers indicate that the best of Broadway is yet to come.
