Berea, Ohio – According to police, an actor who was carrying a real “Bowie-style knife” at a haunted house in Ohio accidentally stabbed an 11-year-old boy.
The incident was reported on Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET on floors 7 of the Hell Haunted House located at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Berea, Ohio.
According to a police report, the boy and a family friend were approached by one of the actors walking outside the haunted house to scare them. The 22-year-old actor, from Middleburg Heights, Ohio, was carrying a large fixed-blade knife as a prop.
The police report states that the haunted house actor “knife on the ground in front of them and began stabbing the ground near the boy’s feet”. The knife passed through the boy’s red croc-style shoe and cut off his left toe.
A picture from the police report showed the toe covered with blood from a cut.

The attraction’s staff gave first aid and the boy’s mother was called. The police asked if she wanted to take her son to the hospital, but the boy wanted to continue to undergo the attraction, the report said. Further medical attention was denied, and the group ended up walking through the haunted house.
According to the report, the knife was confiscated from the actor, who told the police that he had “brought it from home and used it instead of using the provided prop knife from haunted houses.” He also acknowledged that “using a knife was not a good idea and that the injury was an accident and that he had no intention of hurting anyone.”
The report said the boy’s mother later negligently decided to pursue charges of assault.
7 Floors of Hell Haunted House, about 15 miles southwest of Cleveland, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
