Flights to Athro Airport will be delayed so that they do not obstruct the Queen’s coffin procession on Wednesday.

West London Airport said in a statement that “out of respect” it would make “appropriate changes to our operations” for the period of mourning.

These include flights disrupted on Wednesdays between 1.50 pm and 3.40 pm, “to ensure silence over central London as the ceremonial procession moves from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall”.

The airport said: “Passengers will be informed of any change in flights directly by their airlines.

“We anticipate further changes to the Heathrow operation on Monday 19 September, when Her Majesty’s funeral is due, and will notify those in more detail in the coming days.

“We apologize for the disruption these changes have caused, as we work to limit the impact on upcoming events.”
