Hospital staff help patient stream her parents’ wedding renewal ceremony

The hospital patient was able to attend her parents’ marriage renewal ceremony thanks to the help of staff members.

Wendy McFadden, who was admitted to the Royal Orthopedic Hospital (ROH) London For a specialist hip surgery, celebrations were held as her parents approached their 60th wedding anniversary this year – but pandemic restrictions delayed plans.

When Ms. McFadden’s own health deteriorated, requiring her to rehabilitate a rehabilitated marriage as well as surgery, the ROH team stepped in to make sure she was able to attend her family’s gatherings.


Ms. McFadden’s parents married in stoke on trent in 1961 and is now in his eighties.

Several members of Ward 4’s team staff came to Ms. McFadden’s room during her vacation to stream the vow renewal ceremony and help her dress for the occasion.

“They all deserve medals for what they have done. I spent so long arranging the renewal of my parents’ marriage and, despite being in the hospital, I have still been a part of the day,” Ms. McFadden he said.

“I can’t thank them enough.”

Ms. McFadden was “moved” with the support of staff, who also organized a special meal, did her hair and makeup, and decorated her room.

Ward 4 manager Yi Casey said, “We have all become very attached to Wendy. She is a very special woman and it is our pleasure to help her celebrate.

“We knew this event was very important … I’m really proud of the whole team today.”
