‘I told them they weren’t allowed!’ Gillian Anderson admits she’s ‘happily living in denial’ that her teenage sons don’t watch her raunchy show Sex Education

As her Netflix series Sex Education returns to screens for a third season, star Gillian Anderson has admitted that she has banned her kids from watching it.

Despite this, the 53-year-old actress, who has three children, admits she has seen it with her friends when she is not around.

Gillian has an older daughter, Piper, 26, with production designer Clyde Klotz, but also two teenage sons — Oscar, 14, and Felix, 12 — with ex Mark Griffith.

talking to Radio Times Podcast, Star – Joe sex therapist Dr. Jean F. Milburn – said: ‘I must say, I live happily in denial that my kids don’t watch the show… I hope they haven’t.

‘When it first came out, I told them they were not allowed. I have no control over what they do in their friends’ houses. I have no control over what his friends show him.’

She admitted that the show carries an ‘important’ message.

‘I’ve had conversations with him about some aspects of the show, and also about the importance of certain aspects of the show, and conversations that don’t usually happen on television, which are very important, if not important, to youth. For the people to listen,’ she said.

The Hannibal actress said: ‘And to the extent that the show is colorblind and accepts everyone, no matter how they want to appear in the world, I think it’s one of the most important things on the show.

‘And so if that’s what anyone gets from it, it’s doing an extraordinary job.’

Gillian will no doubt keep her offspring away from her Instagram account as well.

On Tuesday, she celebrated her ‘Big’ win at the Emmy Awards on Sunday as she was gifted a very raw cake.

The actress shared a photo of the giant phallic-shaped dessert sent to her, topped with a crown and hilariously read: ‘Congratulations on a big one!’

The icing continued: ‘Gabby and the Chloe team’—referring to the measure-to-measure dress designed by creative director Gabriella Hearst that Gillian wore to the Emmy Awards.

The Crown star captioned her funny post: ‘Let them eat cake! Thank you thank you with laughing emoji and hashtag ‘#sizeoesmatter #penisoftheyear’.

Gillian’s post comes as she took home the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series award on Sunday for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown.
