Dr Pedro Beredjikelian of Jefferson Health explained: ‘A lot of these problems are due to the non-ergonomic design in the devices.

‘Keyboards get smaller and smaller. As the technique gets smaller, it becomes harder for the hand, which leads to swelling.’

This isn’t the first time IKEA has stepped beyond the furniture world.

In 2019, IKEA launched its first line of smart products, including speakers designed in collaboration with Sonos.

Evanthia Nikoglu, Home Smart Sales Leader at IKEA UK and Ireland, said: ‘Sound is a powerful mood booster and is just as important to creating the right atmosphere at home as any rug, art piece or sofa.

‘Designed in collaboration with Sonos, the new Symphonisque speakers blend seamlessly into the home in a versatile way, allowing you to truly set the mood within your home by furnishing you with sound.

‘The speaker can also be used with the SYMFONSIK remote, which allows users to play and control volume without their phone.’
