Manchester City’s injury woes are rising ahead of a crucial week of big matches with news that Ilke Gundogan is the latest player to require treatment.
City boss Pep Guardiola indicated the Germany midfielder was facing a problem after Saturday’s goalless draw with Southampton. He was already against the Saints without John Stones, Aymeric Laporte, Rodri and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
City will face Chelsea on 25 September, Paris Saint-Germain three days later and Liverpool in early October, but will face hosts Wycombe first in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Guardiola insisted that his injury list is so bad that he has no choice but to play many of his youth when the club begins their trophy defense against a League One side, even though it is the club’s Under-21 side. K clashes against Doncaster with an EFL Trophy match. .
Guardiola on Saturday put four under-20 players Luc Mbete-Tatu, Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia and Josh Wilson-Esbrandt on the bench for a goalless draw with Southampton in the Premier League.
‘I have no other choice,’ said the Spaniard. We are going to play some young players. Some first-team players but some players should rest for the next three games of ours.
‘Some of the academy players are going to play because we have John, Ayam (Laporte), Alex (Zinchenko), Rodri, I think Gundogan, they are all injured.

‘We will see because we don’t have four or five days to prepare and make good selections, but it is an opportunity for the academy – so they are there.
‘Now we’re going to play the Carabao Cup. We are going to see how many people recover over the next days because we are in a difficult situation right now but we will go there and London and Paris and Liverpool and play well.
Rodri and Zinchenko’s injuries came ahead of the Southampton game and Guardiola said he did not know how long either player would be out, but Stones and Laporte are already suspicious of a trip to Chelsea this weekend.
City will rest several of their first-team stars, including Rubén Dias (far right) and Joo Cancellos.
Guardiola also dropped Rubén Dias and Joo Cancello as the only players to have played every minute of every game so far this season.
Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Ferran Torres and Riyad Mahrez were all on the bench against the Saints and could come into the squad against Wycombe.
Academy youth Ambett, Wilson-Esbrand, Lavia, Palmer, Liam Delp, James McAtee and Sam Edozzi are also set to be in contention for the starting places.
