Brian Laundry’s disappearance may be one of the most far-fetched theories ever, with Internet investigators claiming the fugitive may be hiding in a bunker under a flower bed in his parents’ yard.
Mr Laundry is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of his fiancee Gabby Petito, who went missing while the couple were on a road trip together. His body was discovered on September 19 at a Wyoming campsite and his death was ruled a homicide. Mr. Laundry has been charged with one count of bank fraud, and police identified him as a person interested in Ms. Petito’s disappearance. He has been missing for several weeks.
Drone footage that purportedly shows Mr Laundry’s parents, Chris and Roberta Laundry, gardening at their Florida home, has been widely circulated online.
In the video, a woman who looks like Ms Laundry moves to a flower bed as an unfamiliar man stands nearby.
TikTok users submitted the unexpected claim that as Ms. Laundry leans over the soil, one hand reaches out from the flower bed and gives it something she keeps in her pocket.
tiktok user, charlienovasite, posted a clip showing the zoomed-in drone footage and wrote: “There’s definitely someone out there. You can’t change my mind.”
Another internet spy, mamabear_xo, also shared the video on TikTok, and insisted “Brian is under the garden bed. Watch him give something to his mother.”
The original source of the video clip and when it was shot are not immediately clear.
Other social media users scoffed at the theory and pointed out that the laundry home has already been searched by the FBI, reports New York Post.
“I can’t believe people actually think Brian Laundry is in a bunker under his flower bed. In fact, those who coincidentally already have an underground bunker in their backyard or by the time they realize that Gabby is missing, will be able to build one by then,” said Twitter user Erin Burns wrote.
Another Twitter Skeptic, Nancy Elizabeth tweeted: “Take this funny story about Brian Laundry hiding in a stupid flower bed in a parent’s backyard. It’s not even remotely funny.”
According to his parents, Mr Laundry has been missing since September 13, when he went hiking in the Carlton Reserve. A major hunt has been going on for her over the past few weeks, largely focused on the 25,000-acre nature reserve.
