Good luck to anyone trying to break this particular Premier League record in the future.

Pep Guardiola has become the fastest manager to score 150 wins in the competition and the speed with which the Manchester City boss has achieved the milestone is truly remarkable.

It took Guardiola just 204 matches to get there, with a win ratio of 73.5 percent.

To put this into context, Jose Mourinho needed 230 matches to reach 150 wins, Sir Alex Ferguson needed 247 and Arsene Wenger 258. Guardiola has pulled these legendary managers out of the water.

Of course it helps to have a team as talented as City, which costs around £1bn in the transfer market along the way, but the sheer consistency of wins is still remarkable.

The number 150 in the Premier League since Guardiola’s arrival in England in 2016 came on Wednesday night when goals from Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva helped City win 2-1 at Aston Villa.

Later, speaking about the milestone, Guardiola said: ‘That’s a lot, we did it in a short amount of time. We have achieved everything we have together.

‘It’s a big compliment to the entire club, the chairman. There is more to come, we will fight and work and try to make good decisions and win more.

It must look ominous for title rivals Chelsea and Liverpool this season, with City aiming to win a fourth Premier League crown in five seasons.

In that time, Guardiola has maintained a win percentage higher in his first 150 in league games than Mourinho (65 percent), Ferguson (61) and Wenger (58).

Along the way, there have been 25 draws and 29 losses, but City have taken all three points in a big way. In fact, his average points return per match is an impressive 2.33.

It also doesn’t matter where City are playing – 78 wins have been at the Etihad Stadium and 72 on the road, with Emirates Stadium, Turf Moor, London Stadium and Selhurst Park being their favourites.

This helps explain why Arsenal, Burnley and West Ham are Guardiola’s favorite rivals, with 10 wins against each.

There have been some notable winning runs along the way, such as 18 consecutive runs during the first half of the 2017-18 season, which propelled them to the title.

He also won 15 on bounce between February and August 2019, a run that overlapped in the following season.

The city of Guardiola has certainly taken some beating as well. The highest scoreline was 8-0 against Watford in September 2019 – and victory number 151 could well come against the opposition, who City travel to face at 5.30pm on Saturday.

Sergio Aguero, who left the club in the summer, scored 82 league goals under Guardiolac.

Sergio Aguero, who left the club in the summer, scored 82 league goals under Guardiolac.

He scored seven goals against Stoke City in October 2017 and six against Watford in September 2017, Huddersfield in August 2018, Southampton in November 2018, Chelsea in February 2019 and Aston Villa in January 2020.

City have scored 495 goals during Guardiola’s 204 Premier League matches in charge and it is perhaps no surprise that club legend Sergio Aguero, who left last summer, has the most with 82. Kevin De Bruyne has the most assists, 68.

Guardiola has suggested he will leave City in 2023, giving him just a season-and-a-half to build on those 150 Premier League victories and perhaps win another two titles.

One thing can be said for sure – it will require a truly remarkable manager to rapidly reach Guardiola’s latest landmark.
