Jay-Z is now the most Grammy-nominated artist ever with 83 nods

He has now reached a new record for the most Grammy nominations ever, with a total of 83 Grammy nominations.

Rapper leaves Quincy Jones — with which he previously tied in 80 nods — after receiving three 2022 Grammy Awards nominations on Tuesday. Jay-Z received Album of the Year for Kayne West’s “Donda” and two in the Best Rap Song category for DMX’s “Bath Salts” and West’s “Jail.”


Former Beatles member Paul McCartney comes right behind the rapper with 81 nominations, when he also nominated an additional two for 2022.

Jay-Z has won 23 Grammy Awards in his career, including Best Urban Contemporary Album in 2018 for “Everything Is Love” and four Best Rap Songs including “Empire State of Mind” and “Savage”.

His wife, Beyoncé, also made history with last year’s 2021 Grammys, becoming the most nominated woman and most awarded singer in award show history.

For the 2022 Grammys, something different will appear this time around.

Two new categories have been added – Best Global Music Performance (Global Music Field) and Best Music Urbana Album (Latin Music Field), with a total of 88. In addition, the Recording Academy announced that it has abolished nomination review committees, so the winner will be determined by majority vote.

Musicians have previously claimed that the Grammy voting system is “rigged” and “corrupt”. Zayn Malik, The Weeknd, Kanye West and Halsey are among the star-studded critics criticizing the award show.

“It can often be about private behind-the-scenes performances, getting to know the right people, preaching through the grapevine, shaking the right hand and with a ‘bribe’ that’s enough to pass off as ‘not a bribe’. may be unclear,” Halsey said in an Instagram Story earlier this year.

The Staples Center — which will be renamed the Crypto.com Arena on Christmas Day — will host the biggest night for music in Los Angeles on Monday, January 31, 2022, in a broadcast that will air live on CBS.
