Johnson to host Cornish beach barbecue for Biden, Macron and Merkel


World leaders including Joe Biden, Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel have been invited to a barbecue on the beach with Boris Johnson during his stay in Cornwall for the G7 summit.

The leaders – used to fine dining and banquets on their trips abroad – will be serving local cuisine on the sands of Carbys Bay on Saturdays by Hidden Hut’s chef Simon Stallard, whose regular gig is at a takeaway shack on the beach. Portscatho.

The menu features scallops, curguerl crab claws and portescatho mackerel, followed by seared and smoky Moorland sirloin beef, newline lobster and scorched leeks served with layered Cornish potato chips, St. Just Purple Sprouted Broccoli and sides of salt-baked beet .

After Beach Hut Sunday dessert, leaders will be offered baked brie, hot butter rum and toasted marshmallows around the beach firepit.

Local beers and Cornish sparkling wine and a “Hedgerow Fizz” cocktail will be served, along with German and Australian wines.

Like any Barbie hosts, Mr Johnson and wife Carrie will be scanning the skies anxiously for signs of rain, after inclement weather hampered a planned trip to Mount St. The latest forecasts suggest that they can expect a good evening in Cornwall on Saturday.

On Friday nights they’ll enjoy more traditional culinary delights in the Eden Project’s luxurious setting, with fine dining using local ingredients cooked by Chef Emily Scott from Newquay’s Watergate Bay Hotel.

Before the dinner, the leaders will have a reception with the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and will discuss sustainability with Prince Charles. But the monarch will leave before the G7 delegation can sit down to eat.

Following the introduction of spicy watermelon gazpacho, world leaders would eat turbot roasted on the bone, caught off the Cornish coast by a fisherman from Newquay, with Cornish new potatoes and wild garlic pesto, along with greens from Padstow Kitchen Gardens.

The cheese board would be made of Cornish-produced Gouda, Yarg and Halford Bleu followed by a strawberry pavlova dessert.

The final West Country flavor will be served in the form of a Petit Four of clotted-cream fudge and mini clotted-cream ice cream cones with chocolate Earl Gray truffles.
