Julia Bradbury’s sister Gina has given fans an update on her recovery after her mastectomy and reconstructive surgery last week.
The 51-year-old presenter was diagnosed with breast cancer just last month and was rushed for surgery.
Speaking today on Good Morning Britain, Gina said: She is fine, she is doing fine.
Gina was waiting in the car when her sister received a shocking diagnosis.
She explained to Richard Madley and Susannah Reid: “I was in the car, I drove her to see the consultant and she was longer than expected.
“She was diagnosed within a week. It was very quick.”
Discussing her sister’s decision to share her story, she said: “It was her choice, we are very strong-willed, she does what she wants to do.
“She thought it would be helpful for other women to learn about her journey.”
Julia, who co-presented the BBC One program Countryfile from 2004 to 2014, found a lump in her breast last year, which turned out to be a cluster of benign micro-cysts.
It was learned that the mother-in-law had removed her left breast along with a six-centimeter tumor.
Speaking after his surgery, the Brave star said: “I am relieved that the operation is over. The anxiety it caused was overwhelming.
“I’m sad that such brutal treatment is necessary in so many breast cancer cases, but I choose life.
“I would do anything to live to see my kids grow up and would turn places in a heartbeat if this happened to me or any other family member.
“I would follow Walt Whitman’s advice: ‘Keep your face always and the shadow will fall behind you’.
“To all you warrior women (and men), I send my love.
“I will keep a little of my strength for the next few weeks and months. Hello. The holy in me recognizes the holy in you.”
