Kelly Ripa revealed that the chapters in her new book Live Wire about her late co-host Regis Philbin were the ‘toughest’ to write while promoting on a talk show Thursday.
The 51-year-old daytime talk show host, wearing a short black-and-white polka dot dress, discussed Regis, who died in 2020 at the age of 88, while on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo appeared.
Andy, 54, said that when she first appeared on a live morning show with then-host Regis in 2001, she was blown away over details in the book about her contract restrictions.

Andy said, ‘You can’t bring your hair and team up. There was no budget for wardrobes. No paid maternity leave. No office for you.’
Kelly said those things slowly changed for her.
“I didn’t even have maternity leave on ‘All My Children,'” she said, referring to her former soap opera. ‘It was just a sign of the times. Other things were more dangerous because they were kind of basic and were treated as these special privileges.’
Andy said he was happy how he also cleared up the controversy surrounding Regis in the book and how he said he was never invited back to the show after he left.

‘You became a real target,’ Andy said.
‘I still am,’ said Kelly. ‘I wish I had set the record straight in real time. I really had faith in the people around me…People keep asking me to take the high road.’
Kelly said she still accuses people of trashing Regis, when she did just the opposite.

‘That was a day trip,’ Andy said.
“It was a rental house, I felt like I wasn’t doing anything profane,” Kelly said.

‘I would have had a woman in my heartbeat. You know it’s a decision I don’t have to make,’ Kelly said. ‘I’ve always found the idea of two women hosting a show very appealing.’
Andy asked her if she had a favorite segment she did with Regis.
Kelly said, ‘We did a job where Regis raises my kids. ‘He brushed Lola’s teeth. He helped her brush her teeth.

Andy tells him that he loves the book and the fact that in the end he named his cosmetic dentist, his dermatologist, and his other doctors.
Kelly also shared that despite the fact that she was 27 years into her marriage to 51-year-old actor Mark Consuelos, that he still pleases her sexually.
Kelly said, ‘I don’t get tired of it.
