Leteche Norris, a 20-year-old from Indiana, flew across the country last month for what she believed would be a few days of “Roughing It” on a California beach with her boyfriend Joseph Smith, his mother. wrote on social media.

According to her mother, Cheryl Walker, she found him in a homeless camp that was filled with drugs and dirt, and they get into a fight. A few days later, Norris went missing – and hasn’t been seen in four weeks.

San Diego police are now seeking the public’s help in locating Norris, who was last seen with her boyfriend on November 4 at a 7-Eleven store near Petco Park.

The 20-year-old met Smith over the summer while training to be a tattoo artist, and they stayed together for some time, her mother said in an interview. dateline nbc, Norris returned to Indiana and flew to San Diego on November 1 after Smith had left.

Norris last spoke to her family on November 5, when her mother said she had received a call from a strange number. Norris said he had a fight with 25-year-old Smith after he went to San Diego to meet him in allegedly confusing circumstances.

“The last words my daughter said were, ‘I’ll be Mama, I promise I promise I love you more.'” Norris’ mother, Cheryl Walker wrote Facebook,

He also ridiculed the police for not taking seriously the alleged disappearance of his daughter in the case.

“I think all the time I’ve been told, ‘Well it’s not a crime for an adult woman not to call home,'” she wrote on November 27. Three days later, San Diego police declared Norris “at risk”. ,

Norris was last seen wearing a black hoodie and navy blue T-shirt, khakis and black sneakers.  She was carrying a checkered bag.  Police described the woman as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds.  She has black hair and brown eyes and also uses the nickname "Tesha".

She said her daughter went to California to meet Smith, “a troubled man she loves,” and then the couple reportedly fell into a pattern of arguments.

According to Walker, Smith invited his daughter to camp out with him on the San Diego coast. When the troubled mother arrived weeks later to look for Norris—she wrote that she found the area was a homeless camp where “the air already smells of urine, feces, death and despair.”

“Lateche Norris is not a drug addict – Joey is,” her mother wrote. “When she came here they fought about it because she lied! Now she’s missing!”

California officials declined to release a criminal history for Smith, citing the state’s Public Records Act.

His whereabouts are also unknown, and his parents did not immediately return messages seeking comment on Friday morning.

Smith stands at 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs around 185 pounds. She has dark brown hair and light brown eyes and several tattoos, which include her neck, legs and right arm.

Joseph Petito, whose daughter Gabby Pettito went missing and was murdered at a Wyoming campsite over the summer, took to Twitter to urge anyone with knowledge of the matter to come forward.

“Please remember and share her face and hers,” he wrote. “We need your help to get him home, please.”
