LCD Soundsystem cover Joy Division as Brooklyn Steel residency begins

LCD Soundsystem debuted its Brooklyn Steel residency last night (November 23), covering Joy Division and broadcasting Rare Items—see the footage, setlist, and more below.

The band announced their return to live last month after more than three years, having played 20 shows between now and Christmas.

On the first show of the tour, the band debuted with a cover of “Big City (Everybody I Know Can Be Found Here)” from Spacemen 3, before playing songs from their four studio albums, some of which haven’t been played live for years. Had gone.

The sets were close to ‘All My Friends’ with the first live performances of ‘I Can Change’, ‘Someone Great’, ‘New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’ and the 2007 track ‘Time’. To Get Away in five years and Thrills’ first live outing in a decade.

The band played on the show without synth player Gavilan Rena Rassom, who announced yesterday that she was leaving the band.
