Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart, whose face was covered in blood by James, was suspended by the league for two games.

James was suspended for what the NBA said was “recklessly hitting Stewart in the face and initiating a brawl in court.”

The NBA said Stewart was suspended for “repeatedly and aggressively stalking”.

James was given two penalties for an apparent foul and was kicked out of the game on Sunday night in Detroit.

The incident began when James and Stewart clashed at the free-throw line with a 9:18 in the third quarter.

Stewart was called for a foul on a loose ball at Little Caesars Arena’s play.

James hit Stewart as the two were battling for position after a free throw.

The Lakers and Pistons meet again on Sunday at Staples Center.
