Lionel Messi will start his first Paris Saint-Germain match this evening, when the Argentine was named in the All-Star Front Three along with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
The former Barcelona captain moved to the French capital last month but was limited to only 24 minutes of action in a PSG shirt as he made his high-profile free transfer.
But Mauricio Pochettino has ended a very long wait for PSG fans, with Messi starting a trip to Club Brugge on Wednesday night, with Mbappe and Neymar backing him in the attack.

There have also been Champions League debuts in PSG colors for Achraf Hakimi and Georginio Wijnaldum, while Gianluigi Donnarumma has been preferred in goal by Keeler Navas while Sergio Ramos is yet to return from injury.
This will be Messi’s first Champions League appearance after winning four European titles with the Catalan who is not in a Barcelona shirt. His last success in the competition came in 2015 when he trebled Barcelona with Neymar.
The two teams from the now infamous ‘MSN’ partnership with Luis Suarez will come together on the pitch for the first time in four years and lead PSG in charge of winning the Champions League trophy for the first time after nearly lapses in previous years.
This is the first time Neymar (left) and Messi (right) have been linked since the summer of 2017.
Neymar and PSG were beaten by Bayern Munich in the final of 2020, before the French giants were knocked out of last season’s final by tournament finalists Manchester City.
Messi’s move to PSG was announced on 11 August, but Messi had to wait to make his debut at his new club for various reasons.
The 34-year-old had not played a minute of pre-season at Barcelona due to his Copa America appearance, so needed some time to improve his fitness after his much-anticipated move.

Messi came off the bench for his PSG debut on 29 August in a 2–0 win at the Stade de Reims, but then left for South America for an international break and his late return saw him out of PSG’s next match. Turned it up – A 4-0 win over Claremont ft. on Saturday.
Meanwhile, PSG have managed to nab fellow leading attackers Mbappe and Neymar after years of constant speculation over their future.
Brazilian forward Neymar signed a new contract at the club in May, while Mbappe was the subject of several bids from Real Madrid after Messi completed his move to PSG, but the French club rejected every approach.
