The attack – the deadliest in years in Damascus – is believed to have been carried out by the Islamic State terror group, but so far no one has officially claimed responsibility. This comes after recent attacks on government troops fighting to maintain control after President Bashar al-Assad’s forces recaptured most of the territory from various terrorist groups.

Syrian state TV showed footage of a burnt bus and images showed smoke pouring down a vehicle destroyed by soldiers. How the attack happened and who is responsible is being investigated.
