A man tried to kidnap a teenage girl at a bus stop before being arrested with a weapon.
Police were called to the High Road in Tottenham, north London at around 4.45 pm today.
Police said a man approached a teenage girl at a bus stop and made inappropriate remarks on her and invited her to accompany him.
She ran home and called the police.
A 50-year-old man was found by police and arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, possessing an offensive weapon and failing to appear in court.
Police said that he is in custody and his interrogation is on.
It comes after another possible kidnapping attempt at Tottenham last month.
A teenager was seen shouting for help before being pulled over to a black Mercedes in Tottenham’s Palevna Crescent on 18 September.
The girl was trying to get out of the car through the back window.
Eyewitnesses said the car was pulled back before it could move forward.
Detective Inspector Lindsay Bilane said: “We are taking this report very seriously and are conducting a number of necessary investigations to identify the girl and establish her welfare.
“Anyone who has information that may help us, or who thinks they know the described girl and have information about her whereabouts, are urged to immediately call 101 ref CAD 6314/18 September is done.
“I also urge residents to check dash cam and doorbell footage for any possible sightings of a black Mercedes in the area.”
