- Atletico Madrid have told United they must meet its £35m release clause
- Trippier eager to join United and is said to be looking for a home in Manchester
- United have also seen a bid for key target Jadon Sancho which was rebuffed by Dortmundo
Manchester United reportedly made a cheeky offer of just £10 million for Kieran Trippier which was turned down by Atletico Madrid – who paid twice as much for him over two summers.
England right-back is one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s key targets this summer but United have been told they will not be able to take him cheap and have more to offer if they want to sign Trippier.
Reports from last week claimed that Trippier, who won LaLiga with Atletico last season, is keen to move to United and is already looking for a home in Manchester in hopes of joining them.
England defender Kieran Trippier was the subject of a £10m offer from Manchester United
Trippier, who won LaLiga last season, could leave Atletico Madrid only if his release clause is met
However, sports world Claim United’s initial offer fell short of Atletico’s valuation, with the Spanish side telling the club that Trippier could leave only if his £35m release clause is met.
The ball is now in United’s court but it is not yet clear whether they will be willing to pay such a high fee for the 30-year-old defender and possibly try to bring down the price before making a new offer.
Solskjaer wanted to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka a new right-back to offer competition, but was also considering if he could get a quality first-team player into his position. Try in the centre-back.
The United boss is also desperate to bolster his defense with a new centre-back partner, Harry Maguire, to top his list.

United were also rebuffed by Borussia Dortmund in their first bid to sign winger Jadon Sancho
Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is also one of their No 1 targets but United have also seen a low starting bid of only £60m for him, with the Bundesliga side seeking £80m for the England winger.
Negotiations are underway, but all parties are wary of turning it into another saga in which Dortmund want to trade until 23 July, when their squad comes together for pre-season camp.
Dortmund have an agreement with Sancho that he can leave once his evaluation is complete and United are the main contenders for his signing.
