A product of Ajax’s renowned academy, Gravenburch, has made 74 senior appearances for the club so far.

Gravenberch has been capped by Holland on nine occasions and was part of his country’s squad at Euro 2020.

Ajax is preparing to offer Gravenburch a new deal as they seek to reduce uncertainty over their future.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still looking for the most effective combination in midfield and may have to enter the transfer market to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, Liverpool would also benefit from having an additional option in midfield following Georginio Wijnaldum’s move to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

United have a difficult relationship with Riola, who previously criticized Solskjaer for his handling of Paul Pogba.

In March, Raiola expressed his disappointment with United and said he would not be upset if he did not oversee another player joining the club again.

They told athletic: ‘With Mr. Ferguson or [Pep] Guardiola, I have the problem – and I think this is changing now – that (they believe) we should submit to them because otherwise, tomorrow, you don’t do a player with Manchester United.

‘I wouldn’t give a af*** if I never did with Manchester United with another player. I am not in their hands. I am free We only have one party we care about: our players. And as long as our players like us, you do what you have to do.’

United attempted to sign Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020, but the deal failed, with Raiola’s demands hindering the move.
