On the other hand, Republican and Pro-Second Amendment groups praised the decision as a victory for the right to bear arms and use them in self-defense.
Since the verdict, Rittenhouse has spent time with right-leaning figures, including doing an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson and visiting Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

The Kyle Rittenhouse Defense Fund Twitter posted a photo of Rittenhouse, his mother Wendy and Trump along with the tweet: Thank you, President Trump. It was an honor to meet you. Thank you for supporting the rule of law and the God-given right to self-defense.’
Green reposted the tweet with his comment: ‘I admire two men with a single mother who has suffered more than she thought.’
The Georgia Republican lawmaker continued, ‘Kyle thanks President Trump for the two most important things the Left is trying to destroy. ‘We must always uphold our constitution, protect our 2A, and stop our enemies who hate them.’
Donald Trump Jr. has suggested that his father, who is no longer president, might offer Rittenhouse the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The former president’s eldest son was mocked for posting an edited image of Trump awarding Rittenhouse the presidency.
He captioned the post: ‘2024??? Who knows?’
The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest expression of Congress’ national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions awarded to individuals and groups or institutions.
