Mastodon has released a new single, ‘Sickle and Peace’, which comes before their upcoming double album ‘Hushed and Grim’.

The album, due out October 29 via Reprise Records, is the band’s longest release at 86 minutes. ‘Sickle and Peace’ follows the previous albums cut ‘Pushing the Tides’ and ‘Teardrinker’, both of which have also been released with music videos.

“Sickle & Peace” brings back the prog-metal flash and grandeur of Mastodon’s previous material, with drummer Bran Delor manic drumming Phil leading the track as the band navigates the weird-time signature and spacey guitar breaks.

‘Sickle and Peace’ will feature 15 new songs from the band, including three singles released so far.

In a recent interview, Dailor explained why the band decided to release a double album for the first time in their 20-year career.

“I felt like they all make sense and work together as one big piece, and I can’t imagine getting rid of any of them,” he said. loudwire.

“For some bands, I think it makes sense to put out a double album, and I think we are one of those bands. I think our fanbase almost expected, that we would.”


Mastodon will perform with headliners KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro at the Download Festival in the UK next year.
