Michael Gove is again seen tearing up a dance floor – this time hand in hand with a lawmaker at a Tory party convention.
Hilarious footage shows the 54-year-old cabinet minister holding hands by Tom Tugendhat as they twirl and twirl each other in Whitney Houston’s I Want to Dance With Somebody.
With a cover version of the 1987 hit Blazing in the background, the perfectly suited Tory duo were caught on camera beaming as they strung together figures to tune on the packed dance floor.
The newly single gov, and Tugendhat – MP for Tonbridge and Malling – can be seen laughing after losing at the Conservative Party convention in Manchester.
But Grover Gove — who split from his wife of 20 years, Sarah Wines, in July — is no stranger to the dance floor, which has been filmed sabotaging the summer in his hometown of Aberdeen.
To the surprise of other fun-goers, the politician danced in his suit at a techno club at 2.30 pm on one August night.
He posed with punters at O’Neill’s pub below the club before heading upstairs to see DJ Nina Stanger’s drum-and-bass set.
Bemused staff said he tried to reduce the £5 entry fee by saying he was chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.
Club manager Adam Taylor said: “He was saying he shouldn’t be paid.
“I told her that my co-manager Nina was playing jungle upstairs and working hard.
“Michael said ‘I love dancing’ – and did he ever.
“He spent the next 1½ hours dancing almost non-stop, despite paying patrons often wanting to engage him in enthusiastic discussions about government policies.”
After Gove’s dance floor antics finally admitted it was wrong to blow up Boris Johnson’s leadership campaign in 2016, he said he deeply regretted it.
He claims to have told the prime minister he was sorry for stabbing him in the back and added: “Everyone knows I made a mistake then.”
And by giving them a job in the cabinet, Michael Gove said he feels the pair are whole-heartedly after intrigue five years ago.
He added that it appears BoJo has buried the hat-trick: “As well as being a great prime minister, Boris is also instinctively liberal-hearted.
“He has been nothing but a great boss.”
