TORONTO – Nearly 5.8 million people have taken advantage of advanced voting to cast their votes in this federal election.
According to Elections Canada, an estimated 5.78 million Canadians have already voted, an 18.5 percent increase from the 2019 election and a 57 percent increase from the 2015 election.

Chief Electoral Officer Stephen said, “I want to thank the voters who took advantage of the elections ahead of time for their patience and their help in making it a safe experience for all. I also thank the thousands of election workers for making this possible. I want to thank you.” perrault said in a news release.
“Canadians still have the opportunity to contribute to this great democratic exercise by voting on Election Day or by returning their special ballot before the September 20 deadline.”
Elections Canada said a further breakdown of the estimated number of voters participating in advanced voting in each ride would be released shortly.
Advance voting closed at 9 pm local time on Monday.
