A new mom reveals how she dropped five stone’s of baby weight during lockdown after discovering an at-home workout app.
Jenny Weiner, 32-year-old managing director of Brickett Wood, Hertfordshire, gave birth to son Jackson, now one, on September 13, 2020, but says her early days of motherhood were frustrated by her low self-esteem due to her weight.
But her life and body changed after she discovered an app that helped her work out at home and saw her drop four dress sizes from 14 to six sizes by exercising between feeds and nappy changes in just six months. She saw her weight drop from 14th 7lb to 9th 5lb.
Jenny, who lives with her husband, David, 38, a personal trainer, said: ‘When I was with Jackson, I was desperate to slim down.
Managing director Jenny Weiner, 32 – after giving birth but before she lost the weight – says her early days as a mother were frustrated by her low self-esteem due to weight gain
Jenny, shown here after losing five stones, was unable to exercise at the gym after giving birth due to the lockdown, so she started doing 10-15 minute HIIT workouts instead.
The now slimmer Jenny also changed her diet, saying that she made “small changes every day” instead of “dieting and exercising excessively”. Pictured here with baby Jackson, now one.
‘I knew I would gain weight when I was pregnant, but I had no idea how much and it was not only on my stomach, it was all over.
‘I was mentally struggling after giving birth because I was very unhappy with my looks.
‘I really wanted to be in the gym, but didn’t have time to leave the house and, because of the second lockdown, I couldn’t even go.’
Terrified of her weight after giving birth, she was determined to regain her figure.
She said: ‘I couldn’t believe I’d take five stones while I was pregnant.
Pregnancy weight gain: Jenny (pictured while pregnant) said that expecting a baby, along with a lack of exercise and eating what she wanted, made her gain fivefold
Jenny, pictured here after giving birth before starting a weight loss regimen, says she admitted she would gain weight during pregnancy, but was keen to drop the pounds afterward
Seen here before the weight loss, Jenny said it was her personal trainer husband, David, 38, who suggested she look for an at-home workout when she couldn’t go to the gym during lockdown.
The new mother, shown here before she lost the weight, says she has ‘always been a naturally big girl’, and was bullied at school when she was younger, describing herself as ‘too chunky’.
‘I think it was a combination of eating whatever I wanted and not exercising as much, but when I gave birth in September 2020, I thought it would fall and it didn’t.’
While she lost 7lb very quickly after Jackson was born, taking her up to 14th 7lb, losing more was a struggle.
And at 5 feet 6 inches, this weight meant that his body mass index (BMI) used to measure a healthy weight was 32.6 compared to the NHS’s healthy range of 18.5 to 24.9.

Jenny’s Diet Now:

Lunch – Tuna Salad

She said: ‘I’ve always been a naturally big girl. When I was young I was very playful and I was bullied in school for this.
‘I accepted the fact that I would gain weight during pregnancy because my body was doing what it needed for my baby to grow.
‘But, once I gave birth, I wanted to be skinny.
‘For the first six weeks after birth, I couldn’t exercise as I was recovering, so it was November 2020 by the time I started thinking about getting more active.’
With gyms closed due to the lockdown, Jenny struggled to find a way to exercise while taking care of her baby.
She said: ‘My husband is a personal trainer and he suggested I look into different apps. I found Freeletics, which consisted of a 15-minute HIIT training session.
‘I didn’t think much would come before this, but I found them so easy.
‘Whenever I had 10 or 15 minutes to spare in the day, I would do a workout.
‘It didn’t feel like I was doing much, because it was such a short time, but the weight started coming off very quickly.’
To Jenny’s surprise, she lost fourth place within four months of using the app.

It was Jenny’s husband David, a 38-year-old personal trainer, who suggested that the new mom, shown here, look for an at-home workout after she dropped the pounds.
Although the new mother pictured after losing weight says she didn’t at first think that at-home HIIT workouts would bring ‘a lot’, she soon found them ‘so easy’.

She said: ‘I had achieved my target weight of 9th 5lb by the beginning of April, which was just in time for my birthday.
‘I was making small changes every day that I didn’t notice until I weighed myself and realized I was losing weight.
‘It was great to be able to workout properly, after not being able to do any exercise other than going for a walk with the pram.’
But Jenny admits that losing the weight — which brought her BMI to a healthy 21 — wasn’t just about exercising, as she started eating healthier, too.
