New York to order all city employees to get Covid vaccine

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is expected to announce an order to vaccinate all city employees against Covid before the end of October.

Mr. de Blasio is due to announce the mandate on Wednesday wall street journalWhat is the latest order to vaccinate municipal employees across the US.

This would mean that all 46,000 New York City workers who are currently unvaccinated will have until October 29 to get the shot, or they will be unemployed.


So far, about 71 percent of the city’s workforce, or 160,500 workers, have received one or more shots.

This includes 70 percent of the police and 60 percent of New York City fire departments, according to data seen by WSJ.

Teachers and health workers were already told to cover the vaccination requirement, and about 96 percent of the city’s 167,000 school system employees have been vaccinated.

Earlier reports suggested Mr de Blasio was considering widening the vaccine mandate to all 300,000 city workers before Wednesday’s announcement.
