“There’s no reason anyone anywhere in America should tell any child about transgenderism, homosexuality, that shit,” she said in a video posted on social media recently. “And yes, I called it shit, and if you don’t like it I called it shit, come see me and I’ll explain it to you.”

White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates, a North Carolina native, described the comments as “adverse and offensive.”

North Carolina state senator Jeff Jackson and North Carolina state senator Willie Nickel, both Democrats, are now calling for Robinson to resign, with Nickell calling the Republicans “a disgrace and an embarrassment to our state.”

Robinson continued in his video, however, that “the media and the Left” are trying to shift the focus of his comments from education to the gay community and his perceived “hatred” for them.

“I will fight for and protect the rights of all citizens, including the LGBTQ community, as they wish. It is their right as Americans and I don’t think the government has any role in telling them otherwise.” Robinson said in the video. “However, the idea that our children should be taught the concepts of transgenderism and exposed to explicit sexual material in the classroom is disgusting.”

Robinson, the first black man elected lieutenant governor in North Carolina history, has been a Democrat and a fierce critic of the Biden White House in recent months.
