An NYPD officer has been charged with murder and attempt to murder for the alleged double shooting of his ex-girlfriend and the woman’s new partner, police say.
Yvonne Wu, 31, is accused of shooting former partners Jenny Lee and Jamie Liang after they waited several hours at Lee’s home in Brooklyn’s Sunset Park on Wednesday night.
Ms. Li, 23, was found in a bedroom with a bullet wound to the torso, while Ms. Liang, 24, had at least one bullet wound to the chest.
Both women were taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, but Ms. Liang died of her wounds. Ms. Lee is expected to recover.
Wu, a five-year-old NYPD veteran who worked on the 72nd campus in Sunset Park, reportedly broke up with Ms. Lee three weeks ago after a two-year relationship.
She was off duty when the shooting took place.
Officer Wu can be seen being searched by fellow police officers in cellphone footage posted online on Wednesday evening.
