Solskjaer’s former teammate Gary Neville also joined United after a 4-2 loss by Leicester.

But Solskjaer added: “I prefer not to see them. It doesn’t affect me. Of course you look at some of the comments at once.

“I didn’t know what they were saying now, but of course we’ve got Liverpool on Sunday as well, so Jamie is always looking at these little things.

“‘I have my values, I’ve got my way of managing and I believe in myself and as long as the club believes in me, I’m pretty sure Jamie Carragher’s opinion isn’t going to change that.

United are in the running for one of five victories ahead of a trip to Atalanta in tonight’s Champions League, but Solskjaer insists he and his coaching team are doing everything they can to reverse the trend.

He added: “Every team will go through a bad phase and we are in bad form now and we know it and we hold our hands and know we need to improve.

“Every team will go through this every year, we’ve come through this and have come through this stronger and, as I’ve told you and all the coaching staff we have so many times, they deserve attention to detail, the season they Put what we have prepared. I don’t think I can ask for better staff.

“They are good Man United guys who have an intention in mind and that is to improve the team which helps the players to grow.”
