Olivia Colman broke down at the Emmys 2021 as she revealed that her father, Keith, died during the COVID pandemic.
The 47-year-old British star added: “I wouldn’t have invested if it weren’t! I don’t know what to say, thank you very much, it’s amazing.
“And what an extraordinary ending for this lovely family. I loved every moment of it and I can’t wait to see what happens next.”
Olivia Then he was strangled, he said: “I’m going to be very quick because I’m so tired.
“I wish my dad was here to see this. I lost my dad during Covid, and he would have loved it all.”
She had not previously announced that Keith had died. It is not clear whether he died of coronavirus or not.
Earlier this year, Olivia described Keith as “relatively vulnerable” – considered to be in the ’80s – and said it was “disturbing” to see him in that position.
“He’s a lovely guy. He’s definitely moving on,” she told The Mail weekend magazine While promoting his film The Father in January.
“I remember he’s relatively weak compared to that young man, and it’s upsetting. But he’s a very good daddy.”
At the Emmys, Favorite Actress ended her speech by giving a shout out to actress Michaela Coel, who dedicated her victory for I May Destroy You to sexual assault survivors.
“Michael Coyle, f**k yeah!” Olivia said.
Olivia defeated fellow nominees Jurnee Smollett (Lovecraft Country), Elizabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Emma Corinne (The Crown), Uzo Aduba (In Treatment) and MJ Rodriguez (Pose) to take home the trophy.
Claire also won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for portraying a younger Queen Elizabeth II in a flashback to the series.
