On Wednesday, the audio streaming service unveiled the top artists, albums, songs, podcasts and more that users listened to most throughout the year — and Spotify says nostalgia was a factor in users’ listening choices.

“Nostalgia will play a part in people’s listening in 2021 as fans rediscover old favorites—and new generations embrace them, too. Let’s face it: There are some songs and albums that just sound like home (in good ways). From),” company wrote,

Most streamed artists on Spotify in 2021

Bad Bunny took home the title of most streamed artist in the world on Spotify for the second year in a row.

The Puerto Rican reggaeton star garnered more than 9.1 billion streams this year without releasing a new album.

Taylor Swift shone as runner-up in the category, followed by beloved K-pop group BTS.

Top Songs of 2021 on Spotify

The top song of 2021 globally was Olivia Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License”, which garnered over 1.1 billion streams.

The song, in 2021, quickly topped various charts around the world and brought Rodrigo his breakthrough.

Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” finished second, while The Kid Laroi’s collaboration with Justin Bieber’s “Stay” took third place.

Most streamed albums of 2021 on Spotify

Olivia Rodrigo has made headlines once again, with her debut album “Sorry” becoming the top album of 2021.

This was followed by Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” ranking second and Justin Bieber’s “Justice” ranking third.

Top Podcasts on Spotify in 2021

The hit podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” remains the number one podcast on Spotify worldwide, after coming out of its first full year as a Spotify exclusive.

of alex cooper ,“Call Her Daddy” also became exclusive to Spotify in 2021 and ranked second. Meanwhile, “Crime Junkie” ranked third.
