Ricky Hatton believes Tyson Fury is hungry to face Anthony Joshua – but he may retire if an all-British fight can’t be set up soon.

Fury’s second straight victory over Deontay Wilder last weekend rounded out his crucial world heavyweight title trilogy.

And Mancunian boxing legend Hatton thinks AJ is the “only box” left for the unstoppable Gypsy King to ‘tick’, although Joshua’s winner, Alexander Usik, may be wooing him as well.

Fury is contracted to fight once again, but has indicated that he is unsure whether he will continue beyond that.

Hatton wrote in Metro: “If Tyson Fury wants a break after that fight with Deontay Wilder, none of us can blame him.

“We may not see him until after Oleksandr Usic vs Anthony Joshua 2.

“If Tyson wants rest, it will give AJ a chance to try to redeem himself against Usik. And if he can do that, we will get the fight we all wanted.

“I think now he has only one box to tick and that is the All-British Title Showdown with AJ.

“If it doesn’t, I don’t think he can do much more in his career.

“He’s had three exciting battles with Wilder. If he wants to hang them up now, I don’t think anyone will blame him.

“But knowing Tyson how I know him, he would want to beat AJ and sign his career.

“But then again, it wouldn’t surprise me if it doesn’t materialize anytime soon and we see the end of Tyson in the ring.

“And if that happens he can hold his head high with pride.”

Hatton acknowledges that Fury versus Usyk will also be “huge” and predicts that the giant Britain will dominate the Ukrainian where AJ fails.

Tyson has the ability to outbox Usyk… He will have all the advantages but where AJ fails, I think Tyson will succeed.

she added: “If this cannot happen (fighting Joshua) he can fight Usyak and say: ‘I am the man who defeated the man’.

“I think Tyson will turn it into a battle. While AJ tries to outbox Usyk, Tyson will try to upset him.

“Tyson has the qualities to outbox Usyk in my opinion.

“His jaw and movement are as good as he can punch as hard as her and he’s a bigger man than that.

“He will have all the advantages but where AJ failed, I think Tyson will succeed.”
