Lawyer for the Petito family has revealed that Brian Laundry allegedly stole Gabby Pettito’s credit card after her death and used it on her way home to Florida.
The FBI charged Mr. Laundry with illegally using a debit card and PIN number, charging a total of more than $1,000 after his disappearance, but did not say to whom the card belonged.
In an interview with Ms. Petito’s parents and her lawyer Richard Stafford on Dr. Phil on Tuesday, the family revealed that the card at the center of the fraudulent transaction belonged to Ms. Petito.
Discussing Mr. Laundry’s actions since Ms. Petito’s disappearance, Mr. Stafford said: “I’m sure the FBI has a lot more evidence than we have. You can see her state of mind from her actions.
“He ran. He stole his credit card. He used her credit card to get home and then ran away from the police. That’s going to show what he was thinking.”
The US District Court of Wyoming issued an arrest warrant for Mr Laundry on September 24 after he was charged by a grand jury for “use of unauthorized equipment”.
The transaction took place between the dates of August 30 and September 1.
The FBI has said that Ms. Petito died in late August. His remains were discovered in Wyoming on September 19.
