A man was shot dead inside a Philadelphia hospital early Monday and the suspect, who was reportedly wearing hospital scrubs, fled the scene before engaging in a shootout with responding officers.
Local television stations reported that the initial shooting took place after midnight on the ninth floor inside Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Suspect, who was wearing hospital scrubs and mask, fled the scene, searched by law enforcement, 6ABC informed of. The report said that he fled in a U-Haul truck.
A U-Haul was seen running away from the spot, police said NBC Philadelphia. The report said the truck was located about a block from the shooting site, where officers were with blue hospital scrubs.
Officers traced the suspect a short time later and firing started. Police told news outlets that two officers were shot and the suspect was injured. The suspect was then taken into custody. The officers’ injuries were not considered life-threatening. One suffered a serious injury to the nose and the other was shot in the arm.
