The family of Brian Laundry, reportedly missing for several days amid a search for his girlfriend Gabby Pettito, say they have found a note on their vehicle from police asking them to remove it.
The 23-year-old, who was named by police in North Port, Florida last week as a person of interest in the disappearance of 22-year-old Ms. Petito, was said to have gone missing last Tuesday or Wednesday.
A lawyer for the laundry family reportedly said abc7 that he told them he was going on a hike to the nearby Carlton Reserve, and failed to return to his parents’ home, which he and Ms. Petito had shared together.
When they went looking for him on Wednesday, his family only found his vehicle parked near the reserve, which is spread over 24,000 acres and located just north of his parents’ home.
Laundry attorney Steven Bertolino said police had put a note on the vehicle asking for it to be removed, and that the family was said to have left it until Thursday, if he returned.
It comes after investigators found a “consistent” body with Ms Petito – eight days after she was reported missing on September 11, and a lengthy police search.
Her fiancée, Mr. Laundry, returned alone with Ms. Petito in late August from a nearly two-month-long road trip. He has been accused of refusing to work with police and investigators prior to his disappearance.
