Police will question Jill Biden’s ex-husband in Robert Durst case, report says

New York State Police plan to question Bill Stevenson, the ex-husband of First Lady Jill Biden, in connection with the disappearance of Robert Durst’s first wife, it has been reported.

Cathy Durst went missing in 1982, and was pronounced legally dead in 2017. According to News12 Westchester, a grand jury will convene by Monday to decide whether to charge in connection with Mr Durst’s death.

Earlier this year, Mr. Stevenson told news outlets that he had had an affair with Ms. Durst in the early 1980s, and when she found out her husband angrily confronted the two of them. Less than two weeks later, Ms. Durst disappeared.

In September this year, Mr. Durst was convicted of the murder of his friend Susan Berman, but the case of his missing wife remained unsolved. Mr Durst says he had nothing to do with his death, and has never been charged in this regard.

Mr. Stevenson believes he can change that.

Then all of a sudden he yells something. He had a bunch of cash rolled over and hit him in the face with it… People have to understand this guy is a monster – I put it in his eyes I saw.”

According to News12, New York prosecutors have contacted Mr. Stevenson to learn more.

Since Mr. Durst’s sentencing in the Susan Berman case, the Westchester District Attorney’s Office has said it is re-launching its investigation into Ms. Durst’s death. Later, an unnamed source told the Associated Press that the DA was bringing the case to a grand jury.

At the time, Mr Durst’s lawyers declined to comment.

“I don’t respond to rumours,” said attorney David Chesnoff.
