Politics heavy on first meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Delimitation Commission, three out of five members remain missing

New Delhi The first meeting of the Commission on the renewed delimitation of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Constituencies was held in Delhi on Thursday. However, before this meeting started, politics fell away. Only two of the five political members nominated to the commission arrived for the meeting. Despite this, all important issues related to delimitation were seriously discussed in the meeting. Also, in the new delimitation, it was suggested to keep in mind the facilities of common people along with geographical and administrative basis.

The meeting, chaired by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, is being linked to the preparations for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Because assembly elections will be held as soon as this work is completed. The Election Commission has recently constituted this Commission for renewed delimitation of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Constituencies. Five members associated with the politics of Jammu and Kashmir have also been nominated as members in this meeting. These include Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Hasan Masoodi, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Dr. Jitendra Singh. In the first meeting of the commission on Thursday, these five political members included only Jugal Kishore Sharma and Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Commission member and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh made a scathing attack on the political members who did not attend the meeting and said that they are the same people who stand in Parliament and demand assembly elections, but when positive ways in that direction If work is being done, then we refuse to cooperate. He said that as it is a constitutional commission, opposing it is unconstitutional in itself.

Significantly, Farooq Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and a nominated member of the Commission, had already announced not to attend the meeting.
