Rail services at Paddington station hit by severe disruption

Commuters have been warned of serious disruption after train services were suspended at Paddington station.

The Great Western Railway (GWR) said all lines between West London station and Slow, Berkshire are blocked due to damage to overhead electrical cables.

The problem has also delayed trains traveling from Reading and Heathrow airports.

Initially, services were expected to remain disrupted till 6 pm. This was then changed to 8 pm, before the rail company announced that services would remain affected for the rest of the day.

Services operated by GWR, Heathrow Express and Elizabeth Line were disrupted.

Passengers with tickets for canceled or delayed services can use them on South Western Railway, Chilton, Elizabeth Line or London Underground services.

In a tweet, GWR said: “Some lines towards London Paddington are blocked due to damage to overhead power cables between London Paddington and Slow. Train services to and from these stations may be cancelled, 60 minutes may be delayed or modified.

“Disruption is expected by 20:00. Tickets are accepted with SWR, Chiltern, TfL on the Elizabeth Line and London Underground via any appropriate route until further notice.

National Rail inquiries showing that all services to and from Paddington are “delayed” or “cancelled”.

This is the second time in a week that trains from Paddington have been suspended, with the same problem affecting services on Monday.
