In reddit post, seen by eurogamer, Topic “Darkplates are dead. Thanks, Sony”, the company disclosed some details of his correspondence with Sony and offered a counter-argument regarding his rights to make the dark faceplate.

one in cease and desist letter, lawyers representing Sony accused the company of infringing on their copyrights as well as counterfeiting Sony products.

In the letter, Sony’s lawyers claim that: “Pasting a counterfeit version of our customer’s logo mistakenly led consumers to believe that dbrand’s product was manufactured, licensed or otherwise affiliated with SIE and, as a result, a clear violation.” constitutes of SIE’s rights under trademark and copyright law in the PlayStation Family mark.

Later in the letter, Sony claims that Dbrands infringes their copyright on PlayStation symbols.

“Indeed, dbrand acknowledges that the design is an ‘apocalyptic spin’ on SIE’s protected trademarks and acknowledges that the PlayStation Shape logo is ‘familiar’ to dbrand’s customer base and is not intended to be called the ‘classic PlayStation button shape. well-known enough.”

In response to this allegation, in the post, which inexplicably ends with Dbrand referring to the Japanese gaming giant as a terrorist, the company brings out the recent Netflix mega-hit squid game As a means of defending itself, saying: “Sony believes in our distinctive and original ‘Illuminati Pyramid / Radiation Hazard / Skull and Crossbones / Angry Robot Head’ symbols engraved inside the Darkplates, Who infringes on their trademark button shapes? How the fuck squid game get away with it?”

The post also includes a comparison between the three:

Debrand speculates that Sony intends to sell its own faceplates: “Our suspicion is that #3 is the real reason Sony is going down this road. If Sony is on the market for a “replacement side panel for PlayStation 5” Monopoly, the last thing they want is a robot-sized elephant in the room.
As far as conspiracy theories go, it’s pretty close “Jeffrey Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself” Compared to “There are 5G microchips inside the COVID-19 vaccine.” Let’s examine the chronology:

  • First, Sony launched a white PlayStation 5, white DualSense controller and a white Pulse 3D headset.
  • Subsequently, Sony launched the Black DualSense controller.
  • After that, Sony launched the Black Pulse 3D headset.
  • We’ll let you guess what’s going to be blacked out next.”

The company acknowledged that it will have to cease production on Darkplates, but says it may intend to take further action on the matter:

“Instead of answering that, let’s get to the point: We have chosen to accept the demands of terrorists … for now. While we stand firm in the consumer’s right to customize and modify their hardware with aftermarket components Believe me, your Darkplates are now a collector’s item. You know what they say – you either die owning Darkplates, or you live long enough to become a Sklar yourself. In the finale, Fuck you and especially Soni. Let’s talk soon.”

Sony has not yet commented on the issue.

In other news, a last dream XIV Player has managed to play the game using the Nintendo Ring Fit controller.
