GOP nominee Jim Oberweis took his case to the House Administration Committee earlier this year
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., Has been vocal about what he calls Democratic efforts so that the election can be canceled Rep. Marionette Miller-Meeks, R-Ova, in favor of Democrat Rita Hart.
But what McCarthy and other Republicans have not mentioned is a Republican who lost Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., In the 14th Congress District of Illinois, appealed the loss to the House Administration Committee. The panel is also examining the results of the race, which includes briefs recently presented in the House on 18 March.
Republican candidate Jim Oberweis took his case to the House Administration Committee earlier this year, without going to court. Oberweis lost to Underwood by more than 5,000 votes. Illinois election officials certified Underwood as the winner.
Oberweis states that there were voting irregularities in the seven counties that made up the 14 districts. Underwood had a brief chat with the House Administration Committee this month, asking that the panel dismiss Oberweis’ complaint. Republican leaders have not championed Oberweis’ attempt to reverse the outcome in the race.
The pavilion has been prayed for by the piety of Miller-Micheux, who has won: what to know
But there are some similarities:
GOPers criticized Hart for taking his case to the House Administration Committee for criticism and not contesting the results in the courts. Oberweis has done the same. Miller-Meeks asked that the House administration committee reject Hart’s appeal. Underwood has asked the committee to do so with a challenge from the Oberweis.
Republicans note that Iowa election officials authenticated the result of the Iowa race. Illinois election officials did the same with Underwood’s victory.
Republicans have argued that sending such cases to the House Administration Committee is a dangerous precedent – but largely silent about Obervi’s challenge. Di, Underwood defeated Oberweis by 5,000 votes. It is a swing district. Miller-Meeks defeated Hart by just six votes – also in a swing district.
But the Illinois race has received almost no attention.
Here is the most recent filing in the Illinois race From the middle of March. In particular, attorney Mark Elias is handling the case on Underwood’s behalf.
