Andros Townsend has revealed that a moody Cristiano Ronaldo ignored his request for his shirt four times after Everton disappointed Manchester United in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
The Portuguese star took the pitch by storm after United dropped more points against the Toffees at Old Trafford with Townsend, who copied Ronaldo’s trademark ‘siu’ celebration after scoring Everton’s equalizer, his famous No. 7 shirt. He chased them in an attempt to get it.
The former Spurs and Crystal Palace winger grabbed the 36-year-old, who took little notice of him and continued on towards the tunnel.

TV footage showed Ronaldo speaking a few words while looking straight ahead, but Townsend said the Portuguese was not addressing him and was instead talking to himself.
“I have made it my goal not to leave Old Trafford without Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt,” he said. talkSPORT Breakfast on Monday.
‘You saw after the last whistle, I ran straight to her, I don’t know what she was grumbling but she was not English.’
Eventually, however, the 29-year-old persuaded Ronaldo to hand over his shirt.

‘He was grumbling in Portuguese and I asked him three or four times for his shirt and eventually he declined and said he would give it to me.’
‘I had to wait inside the dressing room and thankfully the kit man was able to sort it out for me.
‘I’m going to keep that shirt with me.’

Speaking about his re-enactment of Ronaldo’s famous celebration, Townsend explained that it was not a decision of the moment.
‘We were discussing this at the coach the day before on our way to Manchester. The boys were saying, if you scored, would you do it?
‘I said yes, but he made sure one thing whether you’re winning or it’s late in the game, so Ronaldo doesn’t have a chance to answer.

Everton, however, held on to a well-deserved point and were unlucky not to win at Old Trafford.
‘I got a little delirious, almost bent over and fell on my back, I looked at the clock and it was 65 minutes. I gave half an hour to the greatest player so that I could look silly and make a winner. Thankfully he didn’t.
‘[I went] Very quickly, every ball that went into the box, I thought it would make a complete fool of me. Thankfully we held out to this point in the end.’
Townsend has hit the field since moving from Palace to Goodison Park on a free transfer in the summer, scoring five goals and three assists in all competitions.
The draw left Everton level on 14 points, with United and Manchester City, one point behind Liverpool and two behind league leaders Chelsea.
